Adapting the building to new living requirements, our project responds to these demands by utilizing the entire volume: by placing the living room below ground, giving it natural light through the demolition of a floor and the entire façade, and a deep digging that provides connection between the level of the courtyard and the downstairs of the house.

In this way, the courtyard descends with a stepped slope ending within the house, forming a continuous landscape between the inside and the outside of the building.

The first estimates confirmed the structural complexity of the project but with ability and determination, the owner found ways to realize the work at an amazing price but only through a pact of the total management of the materials and finishes. In agreement with the client, we decided then to treat the unavoidable loss of control on the final phases like an experiment: can the house strengthen its relation with the urban landscape indifferently from the language and the image?
